The tech-savvy millenials have brought in a number of changes along with them. Gen Y believes in getting their work done as quickly as possible; thus, the concept of cashless purchase has been introduced in a number of segments such as shopping, transportation, medicine, etc. Therefore, in a similar way, even the insurance segment has adopted this concept by introducing cashless garages in two wheeler insurance.

What are cashless garages?

These garages are the ones which have tie-ups with your insurance company and thus, provide the feature of cashless repairs for your motorbikes. All you need to do is contact your two wheeler insurance company/ agent or visit their online websites to obtain the list of cashless garages and then ensure that you repair your vehicle through them. These garages will then repair your vehicle and send the bill to your insurance company to claim the amount from them. However, remember that the garages will offer cashless services only on the repairs included under the coverage. For e.g. the garages will not offer the cashless repair facility for your bike’s modifications, etc. Further, you even have to bear the amount of set deductibles from your wallet. Also, check with your insurance company to see whether they provide the facility of cashless garages in the first place.

  • Then, ensure that you contact the nearest police station and lodge an FIR (first incident report) through them. This report will come handy when you file a claim.
  • After which, you must contact the motorbike insurance company as quickly as possible to narrate the incident with them.
  • Later on, you need to submit your two wheeler at one of the allocated network garages and receive cashless repairs. The insurance company might send-in one of their agents to inspect the damage and you might get called to the garage for further process. After which, you will have to produce the relevant documents such as your FIR, insurance papers, etc. for further processing. Later on, your motorbike will be repaired at delivered to you.

However, remember that there are a lot of intricacies that go into the scenario and the steps for cashless repairs at garages might differ from one insurance company to another.
