Nepal trekking Annapurna region trek

The Nepal trekking Annapurna region trek zones are the most diverse and unique. From the full three-week Annapurna circuit, which extends into the noteworthy Mustang region to short three-day treks, there's a trek that suits everyone every time. As the name proposes, the focal point of this part of Nepal is the range of mountains that incorporates Annapurna I, the first of the 8,000 m peaks to be ascended. Additionally, this locale has one more 8,000 m goliath, Dhaulagiri, which is on the west of Annapurna I.

Between the goliath

Between two mountains lies the valley of the Kali-Gandaki River, the most profound canyon on the planet. Trekkers experience the fascinating Thakali people in this area. They are known for being high in business ventures, and their home cooking savoured by both the tourists & Tour operator in Nepal. The unusual perspectives of productive, and fertile farmland and undisturbed backwoods, snow-topped mountains, and experiences with a blend of ethnic groups, all add up to a diverse range of encounters that make the Annapurna trek one of the most fulfilling treks among all destinations in Nepal.

The terrain

The Annapurna string of mountains lies inward, causing a large area that includes Manang and Mustang to fall in the rain shadow. The perfect time for trekking here is during the rainy season as there is no precipitation and temperatures are moderate in these zones. These parts are impressively drier than the southern inclines of the mountains. It leads to an arid landscape that is desert-like and altogether different from areas lower down where there are green fields and fertile farmland.

The most vital facts about the Annapurna circuit

The location is central Nepal, and the trekking length is around 16-20 days duration. The distance fluctuates depending upon course and whether you take optional side treks, but somewhere between 170km - 230km. The height of Annapurna 1 main (the highest mountain in the Annapurna Massif is 8091m. The highest trekking point is Thorong La pass - 5416m (17,769ft).

Know when to trek the Annapurna circuit

Seasonal changes (especially around rainy season) massively affect where, how, and what you can climb here. The periods for climbing the Annapurna circuit are October - early December, and late Feb - April. If you go before these months, then you will, of course, face the ever-challenging Thorong La Pass, which remains wholly covered with snow. The offseason trekkers faced the 2014 Nepal snowstorm fiasco due to this wrong choice.

Or you may

You may also face the overwhelming monsoonal summer downpours causing slippery and dangerous conditions. Hike towards the end of Feb - March and find the climate conditions high, mild and hot on the lower segments, and fresh with some light snow at the more elevated levels and the Pass. The best proposal is to hike the Annapurna circuit in September, when the skies are clear, the mountains green, and the ways less crowded. So, it’s always better to gather the most important information, be prepared, and then start trekking!
