How to install Drupal on Windows

Drupal is one of the best Content Management Systems (CMS) software. It is written in PHP and requires a MySQL database.  Drupal is completely free, open source Content Management System (CMS) software that many intelligent companies are using today to provide their needs.  In this article I’m going to explain how to install Drupal on Windows 7 operating system.

Let’s take a look on Drupal installation on Windows 7 Operating system. To install Drupal you’ve to follow up some following steps.

Step 1: First of all download Drupal CMS software from here.

Now extract this downloaded file or folder and rename it with ‘DrupalCMS’.  Renaming is not a mandatory step it just for our convenience.

Step 2: Install MySQL database in your local system. To see the complete installation of MySQL database click here.

Step3: In this step you’ve to select the web server where you could host your Drupal software or Drupal website.  Here I’m using IIS 7.0(Internet Information Services 7.0) web server to host Drupal software.

Step 4: Now run or browse your drupal web site; when you run your Drupal website, install.php page will be executed.

Now follow up the instructions of this page and fill all appropriate information in text fields. Select ‘Standard’ option and click ‘Save and continue’ button.

 Now fill all the information in text fields related to your MySQL database such as Database Name, Database Username and database password etc which you’ve entered during MySQL installation time.

Now click on ‘Save and continue’ button.

Note: Default UserName and Password for MySQL database is ‘root’, so if you didn’t entered username and password manually during installing time then you’ve to enter ‘root’ as default username and password.

Now after profile installation completion, following window will be appearing. Here you’ve enter some basic information related to your website which you’re going to build up. So fill all the information carefully in appropriate text fields.

Now after filling all appropriate information in text fields just click on ‘Save and continue’ button.

Now Drupal has been successfully installed in your computer or local host, and you’re ready to user Drupal. To visit your site just click on ‘Visit your new site’ option.

It is your default layout panel or template provided by the Drupal Software but in case of using another look and feel you can download or create custom template too.
