The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday had recovered over Rs 17 crore at the time of the raids at six premises which were linked to a Kolkata-based businessman. In total eight machines were set in order to count the money. It had carried out search operations under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on 10 September in association with current probe which was related with the mobile gaming application.

The raids pertain to a case which was in Park Street Police Station against Aamir Khan and others on the basis of the complaint which was filed by Federal Bank authorities, within the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Calcutta.

The suspect, Aamir Khan was the son of Nesar Ahmed Khan who has a transport business. Therefore, the ED has claimed that Aamir has launched a mobile gaming application specifically E-Nuggets, that was designed for the aim of defrauding the general public.

During the initial time period, the users were rewarded with commission and also the balance within the wallet could be withdrawn with hassle-free. This has provided the initial confidence among users and they had started investigating larger amounts for larger percentage of commission and a larger number of purchase orders. After collecting a good amount from the general public, well all of sudden, the withdrawal from the mentioned App, was stopped, at one or the opposite pretext viz. system upgradation, investigation by LEAs etc. Thereafter, all information along with profile data was wiped off from the app servers and solely then the users understood the ploy. 

During the search operation, the ED had noticed that the mentioned entities were using dummy accounts.

Though no political link has emerged till date, the fighting had already began between Bengal’s ruling party TMC and its opposition BJP.

In the month of July this year, cash worth of Rs. 50 crore, gold, property documents and foreign currency were recovered from then West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee’s aide Arpita Chatterjee.
