Precautions to stay Healthy in Monsoon

Niyati Thole212 30-Jun-2022

Indian rain brings us life and energy. The monsoon season brings the coveted deliverance to the burned lands. However, heavy rains are not only very refreshing but also provide mosquito breeding grounds and moist environments that can lead to the rapid spread of microbial diseases. Malaria, dengue fever, flu, chikungunya fever, leptospirosis, etc. are some of the most common health problems that threaten your health during the rainy seasons.

You do not need to have a separate test for diagnosis at this time. Schedule a fever profile test to find the cause of your high temperature or other health symptoms.

You can experience each season only when you and your loved ones are healthy and well. Here are essential (non-hi-fi) health tips to keep you healthy during monsoons:

1. Make sure you drink clean water.

Nausea is common when it rains, as it is likely to contaminate water sources. The best option for obtaining safe drinking water is to install the right water purifier in your home, based on the water filtration needs of your area. Another safe option is to boil drinking water before use. Bring a water bottle or use sealed bottled water when traveling.

2. Load up on probiotics and fresh vegetables

It's wise to make sure you're always keeping your gut flora happy. Consume enough probiotics such as quark and yogurt. This ensures a healthy level of good bacteria. In any case, avoid stale foods as they can attract infection-causing bacteria prematurely. Include fresh vegetables in your diet for plenty of protein, fiber, and other nutrients. Wash vegetables thoroughly and avoid raw foods as much as possible.

 3. Avoid street food:

Street food is often spicy junk food and can cause bloating, sourness and indigestion. Also, you may not know what's in the food at the food stalls. Vegetables and water used in food production can be contaminated by exposure to certain amounts of water. These unsanitary conditions can lead to infections ranging from typhoid to cholera.

Do not overeat and do not eat small meals every few hours.

 4. Don't do a rain dance:

It's perfectly normal for you to want to take that rain shower. But pollutants and dirt can stick to and damage your skin and hair. You can spend some time in the rain but avoid long showers. Take a warm bath immediately after getting wet.

5. Eat the immune-boosting fruits

A daily apple helps to eliminate toxins from the liver and boost immunity. Using fruits rich in vitamin C such as oranges, Mosambi is considered one of the healthiest ways to boost immunity and fight infections. Fruits are a natural source of vitamins and minerals necessary to maintain health and wellness.

6 Use insect repellent to prevent mosquitoes

Do not intentionally walk on sidewalks or streets filled with excessive rainwater. These are breeding grounds for mosquitoes that are carriers of several life-threatening diseases such as malaria and dengue. Use insect repellents, and mosquito nets, and wear full sleeve clothes while going out, especially in the evening.
