The Resources.resx file is used to store all sorts of resource files to be embedded within the assembly itself.

The following types of data can be stored within their resource file:  

·         Files

·         Strings

·         Icons

·         Images

·         Text files  

.NET Framework 3.0 provides a good interface for adding different sorts of resource files to the assembly at design time.
