Effective Ayurvedic treatment for hair loss and dandruff

People belonging to any age group may be affected by dandruff. Scientifically called Seborrhea, it is caused by a fungus called Malassezia. Unclean scalp secrets oils and dead skin cells become a breeding ground for yeast called Malassezia. Dandruff sometimes leads to other skin issues like pimples and acne. The root cause of dandruff is bad hair brushing and dry skin, stress and improper diets. 

Untidy, oily and neglected hair causes dandruff. There are many causes of hair loss. People having poor quality of hair hygiene develop serious hair problems like dandruff and itchy scalp resulting in hair loss. The hair loss can be prevented with proper treatment. Other reason of hair loss is extreme weather condition like excess heat, humidity causing damage to hair. This results in excess oil secretion on scalp absorbing pollutant from air making hair greasy and dirty. Proper hair care; and hygiene with regular shampooing of hair is the only remedy of dandruff.

Ayurvedic hair oil for dandruff treatment

Camphor with coconut oil: A friendly remedy to treat dandruff is to mix Camphor with coconut oil in small amount and apply on scalp each night before going to bed. This ayurvedic oil for hair loss and dandruff can be preserved in a bottle. Coconut with lemon: lemon is an important ingredient of hair care. If lemon is mixed with warm coconut oil and applied on scalp, effective result can be seen. The mixture is left for about half an hour before shampooing.

Almond oil with Olive oil: Almond oil mixed with olive oil can be applied along with sugar solution on scalp nourishes hair and helps the hair to grow. The hair is then properly washed and rinsed with tea water.

Sandalwood Oil: Mixture of sandalwood oil- with lime juice massaged on scalp for few minutes and shampooed boost circulation strengthening hair roots.

Ayurvedic oils contain natural ingredients and beneficial herbs while the base oil gives synergistic effect. A potent blend of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential oils help to revitalize the scalp without any side effects. The base of this oil for dandruff and hair fall is sesame oil or coconut oil combined with essential herbs giving optimum result to common hair problems.

Some common herbs used in ayurvedic hair oils

Bhringraj: Bhringraj is the king of hair treatment and help to vitalize hair. Experiments proved that bhringraj helps to grow hair faster by promoting growth. This is called anagen phase of hair cycle. β-sitosterol compound present in this herb makes it beneficial.

Yashtimadhu: Another essential oil Yashtimadhu called licorice promotes hair growth. Experiments proved that hair not only grows longer but also in less time.

Amla: Amla or Indian gooseberry is a common product used as traditional hair tonic that nourishes hair. It acts against excess pitta by promoting strength to hair follicles and prevent premature graying.

Neeli: Neeli, a potent herb too enhances hair growth. It’s a medicinal herb having β- sitosterol promotes hair growth and very beneficial to treat alopecia.
