Google might make Assistant and Bard available on more smartphones.
In addition to the launch of new devices like the Pixel 8 lineup and the Pixel Watch 2, Google has introduced "Assistant with Bard" for both Android and iOS platforms. This new feature combines Bard's generative and reasoning capabilities with the personalized assistance of Google Assistant. Initially, Google Assistant with Bard was introduced with the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, but the company now has plans to expand its availability to more smartphones.
According to a report by APK Insight, Google is gearing up to roll out Assistant with Bard to a wider range of smartphones. This report indicates that the tech giant is preparing to bring the AI-powered version of Google Assistant to Tensor-powered Pixel devices and Samsung's Galaxy S23 and S24. The evidence for this expansion was discovered in version 14.41 of the latest beta version of the Google app. Google recently announced its intention to make Assistant with Bard available to select testers in the near future, and the subsequent phase, set to arrive in the coming months, will be an "opt-in experience." There are speculations that this may be introduced as part of Google Labs, similar to the Search Generative Experience (SGE).
The report suggests that the Pixel 8 series smartphones might be among the first devices to receive this feature. Following that, Assistant with Bard is expected to come to the Galaxy S24 lineup in 2024. Subsequently, the feature is anticipated to be extended to older Tensor-based Pixels and the Samsung Galaxy S23 series before becoming more widely accessible.
Google has stated in a blog post that users will be able to access Assistant with Bard on both Android and iOS mobile devices in the coming months. The company emphasized that this feature is still in its early experimental stages, and it will be rolled out to early testers for feedback before being made available to the general public.
The report also mentions that the Google app 14.41 includes examples of sample queries that users can ask to interact with Assistant with Bard.
