Project Moohan: Samsung's Secret Project To Beat Apple's Vision Pro headset

Project Moohan: Samsung's Secret Project To Beat Apple's Vision Pro headset

Google is falling behind in the AR/VR space as Apple's Vision Pro headset gains momentum.

Google's AR/VR efforts have been plagued by changing priorities, leadership issues, and unsuccessful projects. Google Glass, Cardboard, Daydream, Tango, and Iris have all come and gone. Software projects like ARCore and Tilt Brush faced similar fates. Acquisitions of companies North and Raxium didn't yield results.

Google's AR leadership has been unstable, with Clay Bavor and Mark Lucovsky leaving due to vision and commitment concerns. The latest project, Iris, suffered from shifting strategies and a lack of focus.

A partnership with Samsung and Qualcomm aims to launch a mixed-reality headset by summer 2024, but doubts persist about its wow factor.

Samsung's project "Moohan," codenamed after a partnership with Google, plans to create an Android-based headset similar to Apple's Vision Pro. Google is shifting its focus towards software following multiple hardware missteps.

Google's other XR projects and Raxiom are also in the mix but face resource competition.

In summary, Google is struggling in the AR/VR space, while Apple's Vision Pro is gaining traction. Google's AR efforts have faced leadership and priority challenges, leading to failed projects.

A partnership with Samsung aims to launch a mixed-reality headset by 2024, but doubts remain. Samsung's "Moohan" project seeks to create an Android-based headset similar to Apple's. Google's other XR projects and Raxiom are competing for resources.
