Japanese Billionaire Picks A YouTuber, K-Pop Star, DJ For SpaceX Moon Flight
- First human mission to the moon since 1972 will be led by a Japanese businessman.
- 8 additional individuals will board SpaceX's Starship spacecraft with Maezawa.
- Dev Joshi, an Indian actor, and DJ Steve Aoki are on the list.
The human race is getting ready for a private expedition to the moon on SpaceX's Starship Dear Moon spacecraft. Around 2023, Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa plans to take artists to the moon for the first time. Additionally, 8 other people, including DJ Steve Aoki and K-pop artist TOP, will travel with him on this inter-celestial journey.
The owner of Zozotown, the largest online clothing retailer in Japan, Yusaku Maezawa, is slated to fly as the first private passenger on a SpaceX moon mission that is planned for next year. When Maezawa first announced the 'Dear Moon' expedition in 2018, he only intended to bring artists along for the six-day journey. However, he stated last year that everyone, regardless of their occupation, who considered themselves artists was welcome to apply for the mission.
Maezawa received 'a million' submissions for the eight musicians shortly after he announced this special voyage to Moon in a video. He has now revealed the names of the eight passengers who will travel with him on the SpaceX moon mission as the trip draws closer.
Here is a list of the eight other passengers who will travel with Maezawa in the spaceship:
- Popular DJ Steve Aoki.
- American YouTuber Tim Dodd.
- Artist and choreographer Yemi A.D.
- Photographer and filmmaker Karim Iliya.
- Polaroid photographer Rhiannon Adam.
- Filmmaker Brendan Hall.
- Indian actor Dev Joshi.
- South Korean rapper T.O.P.
Dancer Miyu and snowboarder Kaitlyn Farrington were retained for the mission in case any chosen members had to cancel. According to reports, the Dear Moon mission might mark the return of humans to the moon since 1972. The projected lunar mission will be carried out aboard SpaceX's Starship, which would circle the moon and approach the surface within 200 kilometres (124 miles). Eight days are allotted for the excursion, from departure to return.
Notably, the US government has not yet given its approval for Elon Musk's SpaceX Starship rocket, which will carry the crew into orbit. The ship has been stuck in Texas for the past 18 months even after the successful conclusion of the launch test in May 2021 without even the appropriate authorization for an orbital tour around the earth, according to the BBC.
