Anti-India 22 YouTube Channels Blocked in India by the Ministry of Information and Broadcast

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked 22 YouTube Channels blaming them to promote Anti-India content on social media platforms. Some of them were related to Pakistan.

The Information & Broadcasting Ministry issued an order sheet alleging some YouTube channels and other platforms’ accounts for spreading Anti-India content through their platform to provoke the country’s peace. 

Ministry has blocked 22 YouTube channels for allegedly spreading disinformation related to India’s national security and foreign relation. The Blocked YouTube channels involve 18 Indian and 4 Pakistan-based channels. The ban on YouTube Channels was made for the first time Under IT Rules 2021.

Including Facebook, three Facebook accounts, three Twitter accounts, and one website blocked by the said ministry to save the Nation’s Peace.

The Minister said on Tuesday “These channels were involved in spreading information impacting India’s sovereignty, national security, and relation with other countries. They were spreading fake news about the pandemic and Russia- Ukraine Crisis. We won’t shy away from taking such action in the future,” Union Minister Anurag Thakur said on Tuesday.

The channels that were blocked have a good number of subscribers, one named ARP news has 4.4 crore subscribers. Similarly, others like AOP news have 74 lakh subscribers, and LDC has 4.7 lakh subscribers.

These channels and platforms can disturb the peace in the Country by spreading fake and provoking information to the people. The posting content of them was related to the military and Indian Armed Forces and Jammu and Kashmir, the content related to Anti-India were promoted.
