Television Advertisements in the twentieth century is always in question especially with the development of internet and social marketing. However, there is tremendous importance of reaching the largest possible audience which is possible only with the help of television advertisements. But has this traditional form of advertising maintained its effectiveness as it was some time back?

What is a TV Advertisement?

A TV advertisement or a commercial is an announced paid segment on television whose primary purpose is trading in a product, a service or a brand. These form of advertisements can be short, though not exceptionally so, being in the range of 15 to 60 seconds and will be aired at the intermission of the TV programs. The idea is to convince the audience and thus prompt the desired action on the part of consumers, which could be the acquisition of a certain good, functional visit to the website, or simple awareness.

Is the television advertising still a valid medium of promotions? 

The effectiveness of TV advertising in the digital age can be looked at from several angles:

1.Wide Reach: Television viewers remain one of the biggest audiences, which has not lost its significance even during the years of the Internet. Nonetheless, TV is still uniquely popular with the audience, especially primetime, and does not yield its position to newfound internet platforms. People tune in their millions in events such as the Super Bowl or the most popular TV shows, making it an effective advertising medium. 

2.Brand Trust and Credibility: In this respect, information that appears in TV ads is considered more credible than information presented in online ads that might face such threats as ad fraud and low credibility. The visual and the auditory features of TV ads are also useful in establishing a lasting image on the viewers, thus helping in the process of building brand trust. 

3.Targeted Advertising: Thanks to the constant progress of technologies and the use of big data in the modern world the advertisements that contribute to TV have become more specific. For example, advertisers are able to pinpoint the demography, geographic location or even the particular houses targeting them making the TV advertising viable. 

4. Cross-Platform Integration: Digital TV spots are being synchronized with other forms of online advertising. That is, one media campaign may lead the viewers to another using a call to action in a TV commercial which entices the viewer to visit a webpage or a social media handle. It enhances the impact of television and web advertising methods​. 

5.Cost Considerations: Despite its high cost, TV advertising is a very effective medium provided it is done in a right manner. Overall, the use of the TV ad along with the digital marketing can minimize costs the digital marketing platforms offers further detailed metrics.

Television advertising effective is still strong in people’s perception as users of advertising, particularly when employed in conjunction with the new media tools.
