The most effective way to start eating healthy is by eating three proper meals of the right foods every day. Make sure that you keep your meals balanced, there should be protein, fruits, vegetables, and carbohydrates.
When we say carbohydrates, we don’t mean white bread or sugary snacks and drinks. Stick to healthier options like rice, whole wheat products, or starchy vegetables.
Great sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, eggs, and beans. Learn to incorporate them into all of your meals. If you can, try to avoid frying your proteins, this will help cut away unhealthy fats.
Instead, gravitate toward healthier cooking options that don’t require a lot of oil like grilling, baking, or broiling.
As much as possible, try to take at least five servings of one cup of fruits and vegetables every day. They are the source of most of the vitamins and minerals that your body needs. Remember to always consume a wide variety of both, this not only boosts our immune system but also strengthens our long term health.
Most importantly, to have a healthy and balanced diet, you have to cut down on processed food. These are what usually leads to food binging and have little to no nutritional value. It’s good to snack throughout the day but tries and avoid snacks that contain a lot of sugar and oils. Things like chips, cookies, candy, and soft drinks.

2. Stay Hydrated
We commonly take for granted how important water is in maintaining all of our bodily functions.
This includes digestion, transportation of nutrients, circulation, and many more. Since we’re constantly expelling water from our bodies through urine, sweat, and the like, we need to be replacing it. It’s vital to your health that you drink about 2.7 liters to 3.7 liters of fluids every day.
Try and cut out drinks that have caffeine and alcohol as they make your body more dehydrated. When your body is always getting dehydrated it becomes more prone to life-threatening complications, especially for those with chronic illnesses. Water is the best and healthiest option as it helps cleanse your body, control your calories, and helps balance bodily fluids.
Remember to keep drinking water throughout the day, even along with your meals and snacks. Have water readily available wherever you are, you can keep a water bottle in your bag or on your workspace. Healthy juice drinks and non-caloric beverages are also a good option for staying hydrated.

3. Stop Smoking and Drinking Habits
It’s no surprise that theses vices can be extremely unhealthy for you. Both cigarettes and vapes can be a pathway to getting severe respiratory problems and even cancer. During this pandemic, it’s important to watch your heart and heart and lung health. Smoking will slowly cause permanent and irreversible damage to your lungs.
Being the number one cause of preventable death in the US, smoking will only make the condition of your organs and overall body worse. If you want to live a healthy lifestyle, stop now. Quitting the habit now will decrease the chances of having a heart attack or a stroke as well as getting rid of any breathing problems.
Now on to alcohol, which is as bad for your health. As stated earlier, alcohol can make you very dehydrated as it drains water from your body. It’s also proved to have several negative effects on other parts of your body.
Regular consumption of alcohol can damage the proper functioning of your organs like your liver, kidneys, and even your brain.
If you’ve made either of these a consistent habit in your life, it’s time to cut it out.

4. Physical Activity Is a Must
Living a healthy lifestyle requires exercise.
The right amount of physical activity doesn’t mean having to pay for a gym membership and making time for it every day. Introducing simple cardio into your daily life can be enough. Taking the stairs, walking to your destination, or having 30 minutes a day for a home workout.
You can also join in any physical sport that you find fun. This will increase the likelihood of you staying consistent with it. This will help with your body’s bone density, avoid the decrease of muscle mass, lead to healthy weight loss, and lower the risk for any diseases.
Regular exercise is an easy way to steer clear from any complication for those with diseases like high blood pressure and arthritis.

5. A Good Sleep Schedule

Enough proper sleep will have you feeling energized and improve with your brain functions throughout the day. Depriving yourself of sleep will increase your appetite. This may be a factor in causing you to binge on unhealthy, although comforting, snacks.
