Improve Employee Performance With Training Films

Video training programs are an efficient way of supplementing the corporate employee qualification. They have been used for quite some time now with great success. New employees, as well as existing ones, are relying on us feeding the new methods, procedures and rules to keep the machinery going. New skills can always be attained and old ones can be refined and improved upon. It is up to us as managers to find the best combination of tools to use in order to bring the most amount of information to our employees. Technological advancements have brought many options for us to choose from in this field. These tools are mostly digital in nature like training videos and various computed and online-based training that work best in conjunction with traditional classroom training. These tools also comply with the tried and true combination of learning styles which are visual, auditory and learning by engaging in the activity. With so many options confusion is bound to occur from time to time. Depending on the industry and niche in question, the responsibility falls upon us to designate the optimal combination of training and learning tools. Here are some of the considerations to take into account.

Basic skills training

Each and every organization has its own way of going about things. Yes, there are some methods and processes that are universal and/or mandatory by law, but for the most part, creativity and imagination is the only constraint. When it comes to basic skills, new employees should be able to firmly grasp them within the first months of their employment. Not to say that these fundamental skills are obvious to a newcomer and could (or should) be learned implicitly. It is a slippery slope to count on other employees to teach newcomers the basic ropes as at some point these procedures will stray from the norm. Video training made readily available to all should be implemented for these fundamental skills to remind new and experienced employees of the proper procedures. It does not take anyone's time away from work and can be referenced for future use at any time.

Hands-on approach

There is nothing better than getting down and dirty when it comes to gaining knowledge. How does one learn a new language in the fastest and most concise manner? By being thrown into a group of people that speak it. Whenever possible, this is the go-to method for gaining experience and knowledge. This is not always possible, at least not immediately. For example, heavy machinery and volatile compounds can pose a great hazard if handled by someone that has never seen them before. People, especially new employees, do not know how their products or services work. The gap between the end-user and the people behind the design of the product can be immense as we have seen especially in the IT industry. It is very difficult for a person to grasp every detail about what we are doing without laying their hands on the product itself. To supplement this, product information and demonstration can be given to employees to provide that extra level of insight that will help the company to develop the most knowledgeable workforce. Organizations have seen the benefits of such an approach and are doing all that they can to show how their products work through field videos, live recordings, walkthroughs, etc. There are even organizations that offer roleplaying services to make the presentations as smooth as possible like Roleplay Australia. Specialized personnel that can demonstrate the capabilities and usage directions and scenarios of a product or service are of great importance in making a connection with employees, clients and customers alike.

Legal

The legal aspect of doing business is incredibly important. Depending on the jurisdiction, each one has its own set of rules and it is hard to keep track. If we are a multinational company, this makes things even that much harder. A company needs to be able to educate their employees on the laws, regulations and company policies that apply to their daily responsibilities. An effective compliance training program reduces the regulatory and legal risk for the individual and the company as well. Video training is an effective method to cover next to all topics such as compliance issues, emergency procedures, sexual harassment laws, etc. Modern video training programs also allow us to see if the employee has, on an individual level, gone through the entirety of the course and completed it. It is important to know if they have viewed but also if they have watched it to the end. The common goal is for the employees to fully grasp and internalize the training videos and the messages that they convey.

A successful training program is critical to any modern business to thrive. The business practices and procedures are becoming more and more complicated, no matter how many university degrees we have under our belts. Video training programs are a great, cost-effective way to train employees en-masse through visual, auditory and kinaesthetic cues, the holy trinity of effective learning.
