Apple has unveiled its latest smartwatch lineup, introducing the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 at its September 2026 event. The new models focus on health monitoring, fitness tracking, battery life and AI-powered features.

Both watches are powered by Apple's new S11 chip and feature an upgraded health-sensing system designed to provide more frequent and accurate heart-rate and heart-health measurements. Apple says the new system can provide heart-rate readings as frequently as every five seconds.

New health and fitness features

One of the biggest additions is a new Readiness metric, which uses health and activity information to help users understand how prepared they may be for the day. The watches also introduce a Health Age feature and additional wellness insights through Apple's updated Health app.

Apple has also introduced Audio Intelligence, bringing AI-powered capabilities to the watches. Features include Siri Recap, which can summarize conversations, Live Rewind, which can transcribe recent speech, and enhanced Sound Recognition. Apple says these features are designed with privacy protections, with audio processing handled on-device.

Series 12 gets new designs

The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at $399 in the US for the aluminum model. Apple has also brought back ceramic cases, with premium versions starting at $899. Titanium versions start at $699.

The Series 12 offers up to 24 hours of everyday battery life, while faster charging can provide up to 12 hours of use after 15 minutes of charging.

Ultra 4 targets demanding users

The Apple Watch Ultra 4 continues Apple's rugged smartwatch line, featuring a titanium design and a battery rated for up to 50 hours of normal use. It starts at $799 in the US and is available in natural and black titanium finishes, alongside Hermès editions.

In India, the Series 12 starts at ₹56,900, while the Ultra 4 starts at ₹1,09,900, according to launch reports. Both models are available for preorder, with retail availability beginning September 18.

With the Series 12 aimed at everyday users and the Ultra 4 targeting athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, Apple is positioning its newest watches as more health-focused and intelligent companions, while continuing to build on the company's growing wearables ecosystem.
