September 2, 2026 — Sonos has expanded its premium audio lineup with two new products, the Beam Ultra soundbar and Sonos Ace Ultra headphones, as the company also unveiled its updated Sonos 27 audio platform. The new devices are designed to deliver improved sound quality while integrating more closely with the broader Sonos ecosystem.
Beam Ultra brings 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos to a compact soundbar
The new Beam Ultra is positioned as Sonos’ mid-size home-theater soundbar. It features nine custom drivers, including two dedicated upward-firing drivers that enable true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos audio.
Sonos has also redesigned the center channel to improve dialogue clarity. Four levels of AI-powered Speech Enhancement allow users to adjust vocal clarity, while Night Sound is designed for quieter late-night viewing. The soundbar can also be expanded with a Sonos Sub and compatible rear speakers, including supported portable Sonos speakers.
Beam Ultra is priced at $699 and is available for pre-order from September 1, with general availability scheduled for September 29, 2026.
Ace Ultra targets premium headphone users
Alongside the soundbar, Sonos introduced the Ace Ultra, its latest premium over-ear headphones. The headphones feature a newly designed 40mm driver, Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation powered by a 10-microphone array, and up to 35 hours of battery life with ANC enabled.
One of the biggest additions is Headphone Linking, which allows users to move audio between the Ace Ultra and compatible Sonos speakers over Wi-Fi. The feature is being introduced through Early Access and is intended to make switching between personal and room-based listening more seamless.
The headphones also retain TV Audio Swap, allowing listeners to move audio between compatible Sonos soundbars and the headphones. Sonos says the Ace Ultra supports Bluetooth, AirPlay and wired connections through USB-C and 3.5mm.
The Ace Ultra is priced at $449, with four launch colors—Black, White, Agave and Sand—and will go on sale September 29.
A bigger push into software and AI
The hardware launch comes alongside Sonos 27, a major update to the company's audio platform. The new software introduces AI-powered controls and expanded integration with third-party AI assistants, including ChatGPT. Sonos is positioning the platform as a more connected way to control music and home audio rather than simply as an app for its speakers.
With Beam Ultra and Ace Ultra, Sonos is therefore making a broader push beyond standalone hardware. The company is emphasizing an ecosystem in which speakers, headphones and software work together to provide a continuous listening experience across the home.
