Anthropic Restores Claude After Brief Global Outage

Anthropics AI chatbot Claude had a problem on Thursday, June 18. This problem made it hard for people in areas to use Claude.

The problem caused a lot of issues. People don't got responses or their prompts did not work. Some people even faced trouble connecting to the platform. Downdetector said the problem started at 12:04 PM IST. At the point where more than 2,000 people reported that they were having trouble with Claude.

Anthropic said on its website that they get to know about the problem at 1:11 PM IST. The company said they found out what was causing the problem and they started working to fix it. Anthropic told people that they would let them know what was happening as it fixed the problem.

By 1:49 PM IST Anthropic said the problem was fixed. The problem with Claude lasted for an hour. It started at 06:55. Ended at 07:40 UTC.

This was not the first time Claude had a problem. In the few weeks Claude has had some issues with how well it works. Sometimes it made a lot of mistakes. This happened with its AI models and the services it uses to talk to computers. Some of the models that had problems were Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Haiku 4.5.

Anthropic said the problems happened because many people wanted to use Claude. This put a lot of strain on the computers that run Claude. The company is working with cloud companies to get more computing power. they are still setting up some of the new equipment.

Anthropic did not say exactly what caused the problem. The company just said they found and fixed the problem. Now Claude is working again.

Based on how other AI platforms work the problem might have been caused by a lot of people trying to use Claude at the same time. This can overload the servers. It could also have been a problem with the services that Claude uses to talk to computers. Maybe there was a problem with the models that Claude uses, like Claude Opus or Haiku. It is also possible that Anthropics computers were not ready to handle all the people using Claude.

With these problems Anthropic is watching Claude closely. The company wants to make sure Claude works well for people who use it. Anthropic's AI chatbot Claude is still working to make sure people can use it without any problems. Anthropic and Claude are focused on making sure people can use Claude when they need to.
