Apple Vision Pro Release Delayed, US Launch Expected in March 2024
Apple's highly anticipated spatial computer, the Apple Vision Pro, initially unveiled at WWDC 2023, may face a delay in its US release, according to insights from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Gurman, in his subscriber-only newsletter Power On, reveals that the launch in the US is now expected in March 2024, a couple of months later than initially anticipated. Despite this setback, Gurman suggests that the mixed reality headset may become available in other markets shortly after its US launch.
Limited Purchase Options and Logistical Challenges
Unlike previous Apple product launches, the Apple Vision Pro won't be accessible through third-party sellers, hinting at Apple's strategic control over the headset's rollout. Gurman points to possible logistical challenges, such as managing different stock-keeping units (SKUs) for Zeiss prescription lenses and various headband sizes to accommodate different head shapes and sizes.
Spring Launch Event and Enhanced User Experience
Gurman predicts that Apple will showcase the Apple Vision Pro for the second time at its spring launch event, introducing new apps and features since its initial unveiling at the Worldwide Developers Conference. This move aligns with Apple's intention to carefully control how users experience the headset.
VisionOS App Teasers from Telegram Founder
Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, recently teased users with a glimpse of the app developed for VisionOS. The upcoming Telegram version of Apple Vision Pro boasts a translucent design, animated sticker support, and the ability to view content on a virtual display. As the March 2024 launch date approaches, more developers are expected to reveal their apps and games on the VisionOS platform, offering users a diverse and immersive experience.
