Peak XV leads the $10 million Series A1 funding round of space tech startup Digantara
Bengaluru, India – July 27, 2023 – Digantara, a space situational awareness (SSA) startup, today announced that it has raised $10 million in a Series A1 funding round led by Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia Capital India). The round also saw participation from Kalaari Capital, Japan-based VC firm Global Brain, Campus Fund, and the founders of IIFL Wealth.
Digantara's Space-Mission Assurance Platform (Space-MAP) provides real-time data and analytics on the space environment, including objects in orbit, space weather, and radio frequency interference. The funding will be used to accelerate the development of Space-MAP, expand Digantara's team, and launch the company's first commercial SSA optical observatory in Uttarakhand, India.
"We are excited to partner with Peak XV Partners and other leading investors to help us build the future of space situational awareness," said Rahul Rawat, co-founder and CEO of Digantara. "This funding will allow us to accelerate the development of our platform and expand our reach to new customers around the world."
"Digantara is building a critical infrastructure for the future of space," said Shailesh Lakhani, MD of Peak XV Partners. "We are impressed by the team's deep expertise in SSA and their commitment to making space safer for everyone."
Digantara is one of a growing number of space tech startups in India.
