According to reports in the media, Samsung has granted Huawei cross-licensing rights to several of its US patents. SamMobile claims that Samsung has given Huawei 98 of its US patents. In 2019, the Chinese company acquired 81 patents from the South Korean company. 179 patents have now been transferred by the business altogether.

According to the source, this is a provision of the cross-licensing agreement the firms inked a few years ago to resolve their patent issue. Huawei received patents from Samsung that relate to charging, display, camera, and smartphone technology.

 According to Nikkei Asia, LG Electronics has filed the most metaverse patent applications since 2016, jumping up from 11th rank from 2010 to 2015. Samsung Electronics remained in second place. With many picture and display processing-related patents, Huawei came in fourth in the ranking. Patent licencing deals have been an attempt by Huawei to boost revenue.
