According to a study, using your phone too much could harm your relationship.
- Ninety percent of respondents said they prefer to unwind on their smartphones.
- Vivo, a producer of smartphones, did the study.
- 88 percent of respondents claimed that using their phone was destroying their marriage.
Although smartphones have become a necessary part of daily life, excessive use of them is damaging married couples' relationships in India, according to a report released on Monday by smartphone manufacturer Vivo.
According to the 'Switch Off' research, which was done in collaboration with Cybermedia Research on 'Smartphones and their impact on human relationships 2022,' 67 percent of respondents admitted to using their phones even when they were with their spouse.
However, 89 percent of respondents claimed that they converse with their spouse less frequently than is actually practicable. The research also reveals that smartphone users agree that face-to-face interactions are more calming and that they spend less time participating in them.
The majority of respondents—84 percent—want to spend more time with their spouse. People are acknowledging the issues and open to improvement. According to the poll, 88% of respondents believed that their increased use of smartphones is affecting their marriages. According to the report, 90% of people would prefer to spend more free time having in-depth chats with their spouses.
The findings demonstrate that respondents use smartphones on average for 4.7 hours each day across both sexes. In addition, 73 percent of respondents acknowledge that their spouse called them on the phone to complain about their overindulgence rather than spending time with them.
A survey of 1,000 consumers in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, and Pune served as the basis for the study. Although there is no denying the importance of smartphones in modern life, users must nonetheless exercise caution when using them excessively. Since spending time with our loved ones is the actual definition of leisure time, we want to emphasise the value of doing so as a responsible brand.
According to the study, 68 percent of partners have occasionally felt guilty for being preoccupied with their phone when spending time with their spouse, and 69 percent of respondents said they feel periodically distracted by their smartphone or are not paying enough attention to them.
