The iPhone 15 ‘Ultra’ could replace the Pro Max
When the iPhone 15 is released the following year, Apple might adopt a new naming convention in which 'Ultra' would take the place of the existing 'Pro Max' branding. According to Apple watcher Mark Gurman, the iPhone 15 will also include some 'larger changes' like USB-C. The Pro Max name first came with the iPhone 11 in 2019, therefore it wouldn't be shocking to see Ultra branding added to the iPhone lineup. Apple gave the term to its M1 Ultra processor earlier this month and used it to introduce the new Watch Ultra.
With the release of the iPhone 14, Apple also made a little modification to its naming convention by reintroducing the 'Plus' moniker for the iPhone 14 Plus. Even though the iPhone 14 has only been out for a month, various rumours regarding the iPhone 15 have already begun to circulate.
Ross Young, a supply chain specialist, thinks that all iPhone 15 models, not only the Pro and Pro Max (or Ultra) variants, may ship with the new Dynamic Island as standard equipment. It's also widely believed that the iPhone 15 will use USB-C in place of Apple's exclusive Lightning port. Prior to the EU enacting legislation requiring USB-C connections on all new phones by the fall of 2024, according to Gurman, the company has already begun testing the new capability.
Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned analyst who talked before, discussed the creation of an iPhone 15 Ultra model. Gurman tweeted earlier this month to acknowledge the development. Details regarding specifications are still hazy because it is too early to make assumptions. Next year, we can anticipate some fundamental improvements including a new chipset, better cameras, and quick charging technology. Prior to the release of the iPhone 15 series, Kuo suggested that Apple might reevaluate its normal and Pro versions in order to increase sales in a highly competitive market.
Typically, Apple only refers to its premium models as 'Pro Max.' With the release of the AirPod Pro Max in 2020, the Pro Max brand name was expanded to include headphones. Apple used the brand Ultra this year, though, which is well-known in the Android market, particularly with Samsung phones. It served as the M1 Ultra chipset for the M1 range of chipsets for Macs. This year, after the release of Apple's most rugged Apple Watch Max, the moniker was expanded to include the whole Watch series.
The iPhone 15 Ultra will therefore likely be marketed by Apple as its strongest and most luxurious device to date. It makes sense that this iPhone would be the most expensive in the company's line-up. The priciest iPhone models at the moment are the Pro Max models. Price-wise, the 14 Pro Max costs Rs 1,39,900 in India, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,29,900.
