The CEO of Truth Social Devin Nunes has previously called Google as a 'monopoly.' Well, Truth Social was launched on Apple's App Store in February but the roll-out was beset by issues.
However, the app was not available on Google Play, wherever the majority of apps were downloaded on Android phones.
Truth Social's CEO has mentioned last week that the decision on whether the app would be available was 'up to the Google Play Store'. However, Google has mentioned that it was down to Truth Social to fits its rules.
One of the Google spokesperson has mentioned that “On August 19 we tend to notify Truth Social about many violations of normal policies.” The person added that 'having effective systems for moderating user-generated content was a condition of our terms of service for any app in order to travel on Google Play.'
Truth Social was commonly defined as a 'free speech' platform.
However, for the app to be downloadable on majority of the world's phones it has to get approved by Apple and Google. Well, far from Truth Social being an area of unbound free speech, the platform indeed has several rules on what would and would not say.
The platform was founded by Mr Trump, and was where the previous president chooses to post on social media. Mr Trump was prohibited from Twitter and Facebook after the last year's U.S. Capitol riot. After which the critics have argued that Truth Social has a drawback with misinformation and hate speech.
