Tonga tsunami: Communications 'May be down for two weeks'

Recently, the internet connection has been disrupted by the tsunami of Tonga and the communication was blocked and expected to be blocked for 2 weeks.

In some parts, the communication has been again restored and the communication is started to work but, still, the internet connection is not properly working and demand about 2 weeks to restore.

It has been told that now, the connection in some parts of Tonga is restored and started to work of communication but, the internet connection is still not restored and expected to take a few weeks.

After the tsunami eruptions, Tonga’s Main Island was blanketed with ash and the Western coastline was also devastated.

The tsunami affected nearly 80,000 people in Tonga

The director of Southern Cross Cable Networks networks director Dean Vererka told about the matter as “We’re getting sketchy information, but it looks like the cable has been cut.”

Also, added

“It could take up to two weeks to get it repaired. The nearest cable-lying vessel is in Port Moresby,” he added while he was referring it to Papua New Guinea capital, and the distance is more than 4,000 Km from Tonga.

On Sunday, the volcano erupted which sent the plumping ash into the sky and triggered warnings of 1.2m wave reaching Tonga.

The wave was so loud that it could also be listened to from New Zealand which is about 2,383 Km from Tonga.

Later, on the communication of Tonga was breached and about 105,000 people of Tonga were unreachable by one another.

 Phone and internet communication is extremely limited, while the situation in some of the common areas is still unknown.

New Zealand and Australia have sent a surveillance t4eam to the spot to che5ck the area of damage.

The situation of the place also has been witnessed by the call of satellite as Tonga’s Deputy Head of mission in Australia, Curtis told the publishing body Reuters.

Here we are enjoying the internet with the help of the wire that has been spread in the sea and ocean as 428 submarine cables, running 1.1 million Km around the globe.
