Why in news 

WhatsApp has been found working on a new voice call affiliate. Both the Android and iOS versions of the instant messaging software are claimed to have the affiliate . Through the new affiliate , WhatsApp may be able to provide a better experience for both solo and group phone conversations. The modifications, however, are not yet available to everyone – not even beta testers. This implies that consumers may have to wait a while for the upgraded voice call interface to be available.

According to WhatsApp Beta Info, a WhatsApp beta tracker, WhatsApp has been working on a new voice call interface to provide consumers a more compact and contemporary experience. The source also supplied a few pictures to show how the revised interface differs from the current one. The exact date when the revised interface will be available to consumers is still unknown. As previously stated, beta testers have not yet been given access to the adjustments.

Just months after introducing joinable group chats, WhatsApp has overhauled its voice-calling interface. Joinable calls, a feature of the messaging app that allows users to join ongoing audio or video calls straight from their groups, was recently integrated into group chats.  WhatsApp has also recently been observed testing end-to-end encryption for calls and status updates. Furthermore, WhatsApp Business beta testers just acquired a shortcut for speedy answers.

WhatsApp is developing two new visual indicators to alert users to the messaging app's usage of end-to-end encryption in certain areas. On the iOS version of WhatsApp, the functionalities were discovered on the Call and Status screen. Users are told that their personal calls are secured with end-to-end encryption on the calling screen, and that their status is end-to-end encrypted on the status screen.

WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo discovered the new visual indicators on the iOS version of WhatsApp. The function is reported to be under development, so users will not be able to view it for the time being. On the Calls screen, beneath the call list, screenshots of the new indicators reveal the phrase 'Your personal calls are end-to-end encrypted.' In the pictures given by WABetaInfo, the Status panel displays the phrase 'Your status is end-to-end encrypted.' WhatsApp employs the same encryption mechanism as Signal, which is widely regarded as the gold standard in today's secure mobile messaging apps. In 2016, the firm enabled always-on end-to-end encryption for all chats for its one billion users. End-to-end encryption protects communication by limiting access to the material to just the sender and receiver. Metadata (or information about your communications) is not safeguarded by end-to-end encryption and is shared with parent company Meta, unlike Signal.

It's worth mentioning that WhatsApp has previously aired a series of commercials on TV and social media touting the app's end-to-end encryption and view-once functionality for messages and files. When initiating a new discussion, WhatsApp additionally reminds users that their chats are safeguarded by end-to-end encryption. The new signs appear to be intended to warn users that Status and Calls are also secured by the same technology, and they should be added to the beta and stable versions of the app in the near future.
