I’m reviewing a workbook with Claude and need to know whether it can reason about the formulas themselves, not just the numbers currently displayed. For example, if a cell shows a total calculated with SUM, can Claude tell which cells feed into that total?

Has anyone tested this with uploaded Excel files? I’m curious whether formula handling changes between .xlsx files and exported CSVs, where the formulas are gone.
