Are Perplexity citation links still useful after exporting an answer to Markdown?

María Fernanda Martínez 48 21 Oct 2026

I sometimes use Perplexity to gather sources, then move the answer into a Markdown note for a research log. The citations are useful in the original response, but I’m not sure whether the links and their connection to specific claims remain clear after export.

Does the Perplexity Markdown export preserve citations in a practical way, or do you end up checking the original answer and rebuilding the references by hand? I’d be interested in how people keep exported notes auditable later.
