# Are Perplexity citation links still useful after exporting an answer to Markdown?

I sometimes use Perplexity to gather sources, then move the answer into a Markdown note for a research log. The citations are useful in the original response, but I’m not sure whether the links and their connection to specific claims remain clear after export.

Does the **Perplexity Markdown export** preserve citations in a practical way, or do you end up checking the original answer and rebuilding the references by hand? I’d be interested in how people keep exported notes auditable later.
