I have two revisions of a supplier agreement that I want Claude to compare before a human legal review. The newer version moves several clauses into an appendix, renumbers the remaining sections, and changes some wording along the way.
A normal text diff is noisy here. What I need is a distinction between text that moved, wording that changed without an obvious change in meaning, and potentially substantive changes such as a different notice period.
For anyone using Claude for contract version comparison, how do you ask it to match clauses across documents? Would you request paired excerpts with section references first, then a separate assessment of the differences?
I’m particularly concerned about a deleted obligation being incorrectly matched to a vaguely similar paragraph elsewhere. What checks help catch those mismatches without manually repeating the entire comparison? This would be a review aid, not a substitute for legal advice.
