I'm using Claude to review reference documents, and one of them contains text that looks like an instruction to the assistant rather than part of the material I want analyzed. It could be accidental, but I don't want it to override what I asked Claude to do.

How does Claude treat instructions embedded in uploaded documents? Is there a reliable way to ask it to treat the files strictly as source material, especially when reviewing several documents in one conversation?
