I’m using Claude through the API to produce fairly long reports, and occasionally the response stops partway through a section. It isn’t always obvious whether the model reached its output limit or whether something went wrong in my request handling.

For people who have dealt with truncated Claude responses, what do you check first? I’d also like to know how you handle a partial answer without accidentally treating it as complete or prompting the model to repeat the whole report.
