It wasn’t long ago when we saw every flight’s economy class full of MBA aspirants suited up, wanting to secure positions in the most reputed firms of nations across the globe. However, that has now been replaced by Zoom waiting rooms full to their capacity and top of the class engineers seated on their desks trying to figure out the new technology in order to put their best foot forward for their interviews through a screen. Covid-19 not only helped people save on their air ticket fares for interviews, but made recruitment for firms, a global project. A Mumbai based corporation no longer needs a Maharashtra resident to work for them, but has spread its accessibility to a freelancer sitting in a Starbucks at Connaught Place. Now that companies know working remotely is not an impossibility, more people will be willing to work from home as they continue to take care of their loved ones.

What’s surprising is that this temporary change might just be here to stay as it continues to form a mutually beneficial relationship between those looking to hire and those wanting to make a livelihood. Virtual recruitment might just be what was missing from the hustle culture all this while.
