Objective

The objective of mechanical box transporter is to shift boxes using the mechanical links operated by a motor. Most of the industries are evolving themselves to eliminate the use of labor and to make an efficient, quick and risk-free carriage of work, box transporter can be used to achieve this goal.

Dynamic analysis is one of the important phases in designing the model. Computer-based modeling and simulation give better understanding regarding rigid system parameters. There is more scope in the development of an accurate mathematical model and subsequent simulations for the kinematic and dynamic analysis of the mechanical systems for the precise application in the industry.

Introduction

The demand for intermittent movement of packages in the industries is growing right from the start. Though the continuous movement is more or less important in the same field the sporadic motion has become essential. The objective of my project is to produce a mechanism that delivers this stop and move motion using mechanical linkages. The advantage of my system over the conveyor system is that it can offer a time delay according to the system need without any programming which is typically used in the conveyor and belt system with a heavy cost. The prototype design requires an electric motor/ bearing, handle, shafts and the frame of which the frame and platform on which the packages are moved is fabricated. All the links are being made of Aluminium which reduces the weight of the whole system including the head which has direct contact with the boxes being moved. The system is expected to move as heavy packages as 2 to 3kgs approximately an item can be lowered considerably by making a saving in the material handling cost.

Linkage mechanism

A linkage is a mechanism formed by connecting two or more links together. Linkages can be designed to change the direction of a force or make two or more objects move at the same time and in the same or different direction. Many different fasteners are used to connect linkages together yet allow them to move freely such as pins, end-threaded bolts with nuts, and loosely fitted rivets.

There are generally two classes of linkages: simple planar linkages and complex specialized linkages; both are capable to perform a different kind of motion like straight lines or curves and execute motion at a different speed. Linkages can be categorized according to their primary functions:

Function generation: The relative motion between the links connected to the frame defines the periodic motion of the system.

Path generation: The path is generated according to the tracer used.

Motion generation: the motion of the coupler and his linkage defines the motion of the system

Slider Mechanism

The slider mechanism is defined as the arrangement of links to convert a straight line motion into rotary motion as reciprocating motion in the IC engine or a rotary motion into a straight line motion. In an IC engine piston slides in the fixed cylinder in a to and fro motion because of the expansion and compression of the gas and connected to the connecting rod which changes its motion into a rotary motion which is the motion of the crankshaft. Before delving into this aspect of the engine, however, let us examine the crank-slider mechanism more closely.

Project fabrication

Box Transport Mechanism:-

The design and fabrication of box shifting mechanism constructed by various components such as an iron strip of 2cm width, wooden frame, and wooden pieces. In this wooden frame build by using rectangular blocks and steel rods these are connected by welding operation metal arc welding.

Innovation:- Using bearing and handle system instead of DC motor for the motion of links to save the cost.

Procedure

1. First of all, we have to prepare the engineering drawing of the mechanical box transporter.

2. After that, we have to make the measurement for the bed of the box transport machine.

3. We take the iron angles and cut them in the given measurements using the cutting machine.

4. Then take that pieces and weld them in the prepared shaped drawing.

5. After making the welding of the iron angles bed for the machine was ready.

6. Then take the mild steel plate and then take the measurement of the box transport machine and cut the pieces according to the given length.

7. After cutting the plate in the given size we put it in the lathe machine forging it into the shape of the shaft. Also, prepare the hanger and crank using the lathe machine.

8. After preparing the shaft, hanger and crank take it over to the drilling machine to cut the holes as a given dimension in the drawing.

9. Cut the mild sheet plate in the given dimensions and then edges also, after cutting we make the welding to attach these edges with the plate on the given distance dimensions. Then with the help of file rub these welding points to give them a good look.

10. Take the bearing and fix it on the wooden frame. Later weld the handle to the shaft.

11. After fixing the bearing, fix the crank with it from one side and another side was attached to the shaft.

12. Then take the hanger link and attach it with the lever link, while the other edge of the hanger link is attached to the fixed link.

14. Then both of the links were attached to the transporting link.

15. Attach two other hanger links to the shafts via the crank link.

16. Attach other two hanger link and transporting link to the top of the bed.

17. Outbox transporting machine is ready now.

18. Now attach the handle with the bearing for the motion of links.

19. It will work well and a box will move to the next level.

Working Principle

This machine is very efficient for moving the product from one place to another place with safely. This machine is very user-friendly and easy to handle. In this machine via using the control unit of the DC motor one can easily control the speed of the linkage. The motor can be easily installed by using the bearings. By switching on the motor crank is rotated and the first box is moved from first place to second place in the first rotation, after that the second box is placed in the first position, the second rotation is started the first box is moved from second place to third place, in the meantime the second box is move from first place to second place. In this process, the boxes are continuously moving from one place to another place simultaneously.T he products or boxes are transferred from one place to another in conveyor using crank mechanism.

Applications

1. This mechanism can be used in the medical industry where it takes the place of the conveyor belt.

2. This mechanism can be used in the bottle filling industry like aerated drinks, juice bottles, and water bottles.

3. This mechanism can also be used in the packaging industry.

Advantages

1. No lubrication is required.

2. Simple to construct, completely based on the mechanical links.

3. A Low-speed motor is sufficient

4. Easy to maintenance.

5. The less skilled worker can be used.

6. The noise of operation is reduced.

7. Less floral area is required.
