Air compressor is one of the most useful tools for all the mechanical works at repair stores or even for your home. So, purchasing an air compressor comes with a responsibility to maintain it properly. Don’t worry, an air compressor doesn’t require regular maintenance, but that advantage makes people forget about the importance of keeping the compressor clean. The repair work of an air compressor can be very costly, so it would be a wise idea to clean the air compressor parts after a few uses.

Go through the manual
In most cases, the air compressor breaks down because the owner doesn’t follow the instruction manual. Most people neglect the manual as there is a long list of instructions, which takes a lot of time to read. But, you must understand one thing that these manuals are given with the products to make the maintenance work easier for you. The chances are very high that if you avoid the manual, you may also miss the warranty period too.

Keep the moisture away
While compressing the air, the receiver tank gets too much moisture. This mostly happens in the areas with higher humidity, but owners from other areas too should be aware of that fact. In most of the air compressors, you may find the darning valve to suck out the moisture. So, before draining the water, release the air pressure to keep it dry.

Simple Tips To Keep Your Air Compressor Up And Running For A Long Span

Screws should be tight
When an air compressor runs, it creates vibration due to the fast-running engine. So, it might loosen a few screws or nut or bolts, which makes it necessary to keep them tight after a few uses.

Do hose checking regularly
Most people think that air compressor maintenance is necessary only if you use it regularly. But, due to moisture, some parts may get affected by stains, even the dust or dirt can damage the hoses. A tiny crack may cause leakage of the hose pipes. So, clean your air compressor periodically even if you are not using it regularly.

Test the shutdown system
The latest air compressors have been designed with a safety shutdown system. If the engine oil pressure becomes too low or the compressor exceeds its normal temperature, it gets shut down automatically. Do check it regularly to avoid any accidents or damage to your air compressor.

Change the air filter
Dirty air can damage your air compressor quicker than anything else. If your compressor is taking dirt and dirt continuously, it will create a mess inside. So, make sure your air filters are properly working, if not, then change them immediately.

Change the oil
If your air compressor uses oil to run, you need to keep track of that too. You must keep your compressor topped off every time. You can get the exact number on your manual, but generally, you should change your oil after every 800-1000 hours of running.

Keep the fuel tank clean
Your fuel tank may have some residue of dirt, which can be very harmful to your air compressor’s life. So, clean the fuel tank properly after every 6-8 months for the long life of the system.

Keep the heat exchangers clean
If your heat exchangers are filled with dirt and dust, they cannot operate to their full potential. In time, it won’t be able to control the temperature of your machine, which will cause a sudden breakdown.

Keep the separator element clean
The work of the separator element is to keep the machine form using excessive oil. To keep your air compressor in top condition, clean it regularly and replace it after 800-1000 hours of running.
