Big data and its categories

As per its big data, it’s very clear that it’s a data which is huge in size and volume. Big data is basically a word which is used to describe a collection of data which huge in volume and size. There are so many simple examples of places where there is storage of such big data. For example: 

Stock exchange market

The stock exchange markets could be considered as the best examples for describing big data. As NYSE (New York stock exchange) solely generates about one terabyte of data of new trade each day. These data are set of records of each and every investor, shareholders etc.

Social media

If we go through some statistics we will found that each and every day there are 500+ terabytes database been stored on social media site Facebook. Similar to that there are too many of social media sites such Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat etc. which almost store similar amount of data each and every day.

These huge amount of data are usually in the form of pictures, videos and written text which are in form of written text posts, messages, comments etc.

Airlines

The jet airways solely generate around 10+ terabytes of data within 30 minutes of duration of a flight time. And everyone knows that there are more than thousands of flights each day which leads to the generation of petabytes. Yes, you read it right it leads to the generation of petabyte and 1 petabyte = 1024 terabyte.

Big data is been categorized into three categories which are:

Structured data

A structured data is basically the data which can be stored, accessed and it’s the data which can be processed. We see and experience advancement in technology and science day by day through which with this types of data has become very as in a structured the data is processed in a fixed format.

However, from past few days, we are experiencing and foreseeing problems when a volume of data enlarges typical and specific sizes are being in the rage of multiple zettabytes.

Unstructured

Unstructured data is basically the data which is of unknown type or the structure is assessed as unstructured knowledge. Additionally to the scale being vast, un-structured knowledge poses multiple challenges in terms of its process for etymologizing worth out of it. The search result obtained as an output after searching on it is the simplest example of unstructured data.

A typical example of unstructured knowledge is, a heterogeneous knowledge supply containing a mixture of straightforward text files, images, videos etc. currently daily organizations have wealth knowledge of information obtainable with them however sadly they do not shrewdness to derive worth out of it since this data is in its raw type or unstructured format.

Semi-structured

The semi-structured data contains each pattern and style of knowledge. We will see semi-structured knowledge as a structured in type however it's really not outlined with e.g. a table definition in a relative package. XML files are a perfect example of semi-structured data.
