I have just started preparing for the CompTIA SecurityX CAS-005 certification exam, and I chose not to immediately dive into any random questions. There is much to learn, and I wanted to first know what I needed to learn.

I am starting with the main exam areas and trying to understand how they connect. Security Architecture and Security Engineering are getting most of my attention at the beginning. I am also making sure I do not ignore Security Operations and Governance, Risk, and Compliance.

One thing I am trying to avoid is studying every topic as an isolated definition. For example, when I encounter a security control, I want to know why it can be implemented and which problem can be solved using it. This appears more helpful than just remembering the definition of the term.

After reviewing the objectives, I also started using CompTIA SecurityX CAS 005 exam questions to check whether I can actually apply what I have studied. I am using them mostly to identify weak spots rather than trying to commit them to memory.

I am not very far along yet in my preparation process, but this seems like a more manageable approach so far. I would rather get a good understanding of the material before moving on to the exam myself.

If you are getting ready for CAS-005, what do you think about starting with? Technical domains or just working your way through the objectives?
