No internet? No problem: BitChat lets you send messages via Bluetooth
BitChat supports transmission and reception of direct messages using Bluetooth eliminating the use of the internet connection. Through this app, one can share texts even in absence of cellular data or Wi-Fi connectivity. It develops the limited area communication networks between equipment in the range of Bluetooth.
Highlights:
- Bluetooth-Based Transmission: Sends messages directly via Bluetooth.
- Internet Independence: Functions without cellular data or Wi-Fi.
- Device-to-Device Range: Operates within standard Bluetooth proximity.
- Encrypted Communication: Secures messages with end-to-end encryption.
- Platform Compatibility: Works across iOS and Android devices.
BitChat utilizes Bluetooth to form peer-to-peer connections. Communications occur point-to-point among the enabled devices in a normal 100 meters range. The process makes communication still available in case of internet cut-offs or where there is no coverage of the network. BitChat does not use any existing network infrastructure.
The application assists crucial messaging capabilities disconnected. Users can only transfer texts, images and location via Bluetooth. It is also viable to have group communication amongst various users of BitChat within a Bluetooth range of each other. The interface focuses more on easy operation so that it can be used instantly.
BitChat security is in-built. Before the transmission of messages over the Bluetooth connection, they are end-to-end encrypted locally in devices. BitChat encrypts data peer-to-peer without use of a third party server. This method contributes to privacy improvement and minimization of some vulnerabilities related to central storage of data.
