WhatsApp for Android Reportedly Working on Mute and Camera Off Buttons for Calls
WhatsApp is reportedly adding new ways to control group voice and video calls on Android: dedicated buttons for Mute and turning off the Camera. This serves as a continuous advancement towards improving the user experience when in an active call, by providing them with quick means of changing configurations on sound and video.
Highlights:
- WhatsApp is testing “Mute” and “Camera Off” buttons in beta versions.
- These features aim to improve user experience during WhatsApp calls.
- The buttons will offer instant control over audio and video.
- They are currently in development and not yet rolled out publicly.
- The update aligns with WhatsApp's efforts to refine call usability.
New Features in the Works
The two next call controls planned are intended to give the specified usability options during an extensive call. Currently, Android accessing buttons could spread a certain icon on the call screen where one button ends the voice and the second one kills the camera at once. These changes focus on convenience and transition from one call type to another especially if the user is using it for both business and personal use.
Aiming for Seamless Control
This change emphasizes that WhatsApp has a more elaborate goal of easing the call screen. Moreover, with the new update on the call controls, people shall not need to navigate from the call screen or press on several icons in order to mute or turn off the camera. This is expected to help in bringing a major change in response time for the users especially in cases of sudden incidences in an on-going conversation.
Still in Development Phase
These new controls for WhatsApp calls have not been pushed out for general use but are currently available only in beta form. However, no date for the release has been set though these enhancements make it very clear that interaction in the application is being fine tuned. When launched, these could serve as essential add-ons of users who desire to have smooth control while using voice and video conferencing on Android.
