Disappearing Media function soon to be launched on Whatsapp Android and iOS App
Recently, WhatsApp has been working on few new features and this disappearing media feature is one of them for both iOS and Android platforms. Whatsapp already has a feature for disappearing messages but further developments are being done for putting forth this disappearing photo/media feature which can already be seen and used popularly on various other platforms like Instagram . Both the apps are owned by Facebook which states that is it not a new feature to be introduced by them rather they have to transfer it from one platform to another.
WABetaInfo , which tracks up the WhatsApp features tweeted about how Whatsapp is working on self- destructing pictures feature for iOS and Android.
They have shared screenshots which showed a new option along side ‘Add a caption’ text box - which will appear before you send an attached media on the WhatsApp app, if you are going to click on that it will make the media disappear once you leave that particular chat. WABetaInfo has also pointed out that the users would not be able to take screenshots of such self- destructing photo, as no such features of detecting a disappearing message has been added by far.
This disappearing media feature was introduced by Whatsapp on various platforms like Android, iOS and Linux- based KaiOS devices in November last year.
There is a difference in this feature on WhatsApp from how it works on Telegram . While Telegram gives the privilege to the users for deciding the duration before the message disappears in a chat, whereas messages sent to WhatsApp will automatically disappear after seven days.
Snapchat too has a somewhat closer feature where it removes the snaps after they have been opened, it also deletes the group chat’s Snaps which are Unopened within 24 hours, and for the other unopened snaps it takes a duration of 30 days.
Such a feature is a need for hour when you see the increasing privacy concern on social media platforms and popularity of such a feature on other platforms is a proof in itself. According to WABetaInfo, the popular messaging app owned by Facebook will launch the feature in the next update.
