Realme has achieved a remarkable feat by shipping over 200 million phones in just over five years since its inception, with a significant portion of these shipments occurring outside of China. Counterpoint Research data highlights that only four companies—Vivo, Huawei, Samsung, and Apple—have reached this milestone in a shorter time frame, making Realme the fifth-fastest smartphone maker to do so. Notably, only 14 companies globally have surpassed the 200 million phone shipment mark.
Realme's Future Plans
Looking ahead, Realme is gearing up to enter the premium smartphone segment with the imminent launch of the Realme GT 5 Pro. This upcoming device is poised to be among the pioneers featuring Qualcomm’s latest high-end chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and will boast Sony’s advanced Lytia camera sensor. This strategic move into the premium market aligns with Realme’s broader goal of diversifying its product portfolio and reaching a wider consumer base.
Competition in the Premium Market
Despite this ambitious move, Realme faces competition in the premium smartphone space, with Xiaomi recently introducing the Xiaomi 14 Pro, also equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. As the smartphone market undergoes continuous evolution, Realme’s deliberate foray into premium devices underscores its commitment to innovation and its aspirations to solidify its standing as a key player in the ever-evolving global smartphone industry.
