1. Narrow AI (Weak AI)

  1. Definition: AI that is designed and trained for a specific task.
  2. Capabilities: It can perform a single task or a limited set of tasks very well, but nothing beyond that.
  3. Examples:
    • Siri, Alexa (voice assistants)
    • ChatGPT (conversational AI)
    • Google Maps (navigation)
    • Spam filters, recommendation engines
  4. Exists today and widely used

2. General AI (Strong AI)

  1. Definition: AI with human-level intelligence that can perform any intellectual task that a human can do.
  2. Capabilities: It has the ability to understand, learn, and apply knowledge across different domains—basically, it can think and reason like a person.
  3. Examples:
    • None yet — it's theoretical for now.
    • If built, it would be like a human mind in a machine.
  4. Still under research and development

3. Super AI (Artificial Superintelligence)

  1. Definition: AI that surpasses human intelligence in all aspects—creativity, decision-making, emotional intelligence, etc.
  2. Capabilities: It would be vastly more capable than the smartest humans, potentially inventing new technologies, solving global problems, and more.
  3. Examples:
    • Entirely hypothetical. Think of science fiction portrayals like HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey, or Skynet from Terminator.
