When I ask Claude to summarize a research paper, I’m never sure whether it has actually read the footnotes and endnotes or is mainly working from the main text. Those notes can contain useful caveats and source details.

Has anyone compared Claude’s summary with the notes in an uploaded PDF? I’m especially interested in scanned papers or PDFs where the footnotes are small and crowded at the bottom of the page.
