Can Perplexity keep framework advice tied to the exact version my project uses?

Eetu Saarinen 77 18 Oct 2026

I’m maintaining a Next.js 14 project using the App Router. When I research caching behavior, I find current documentation, older documentation, and articles written around release candidates. A statement can be correct for one release and still be wrong for our app.

I’d like to use Perplexity for version-specific documentation research, but adding “Next.js 14” to the question doesn’t by itself tell me whether every cited page applies.

Would this be a reasonable evidence requirement?

For each claim about caching defaults, identify the version the source describes. If the page does not establish that, mark its applicability as uncertain rather than treating its publication date as proof.

What else should I provide besides our exact installed version and router type? I’m happy to share a small configuration excerpt, but I don’t want the question to become a full debugging session.

How are others handling citations that point to a current documentation URL whose contents may have changed since the version being discussed?
