I’m using Perplexity to compare quarterly revenue for several software companies. The awkward part is that “Q1 2026” doesn’t necessarily cover the same months for every company.
I want a fiscal quarter comparison that makes those differences visible, rather than a tidy table that quietly treats matching quarter labels as matching reporting periods.
The comparison I actually need
For each company, I’d like the reported quarter label, the period’s start and end dates, revenue, currency, and a link to the earnings release or filing. I also want to keep reported figures separate from any estimates used to align calendar periods.
How would you phrase this request? Should I specify a calendar date range and ask Perplexity to identify the closest reported periods first, or provide the exact fiscal quarters myself?
I’m particularly unsure how to handle a 53-week fiscal year or a company that has changed its year-end. Has anyone found a reliable way to keep those exceptions visible in the comparison?
