I’m using Claude to build a small expense tracker as an artifact. Before entering anything real, I want to understand what “saved” would actually mean for this tool.
My intended workflow is to add expenses in the preview, download the app, and keep using it locally. I’m unsure whether that means moving the existing records too, or just downloading the interface and its code.
How does Claude artifact data storage differ between the preview and a downloaded version? If the generated app uses browser local storage, would opening the downloaded file have access to anything entered in the preview?
I also need a colleague to use a separate copy without seeing my records. What should I ask Claude to show me in the generated code so I can check storage, export, and any external services before relying on the tracker?
