I’m looking at using Claude to inspect a workbook with several linked sheets, formulas, and a few notes explaining how the numbers are calculated. I don’t just need a summary of the displayed values; I want to understand how the sheets depend on one another.

Does Claude preserve enough spreadsheet formula context when analyzing an uploaded workbook, or is it better to export the relevant sheets into another format first? I’d be interested in experiences with large workbooks too.
