I’m adding OpenAI structured outputs to a feature where the response feeds directly into existing application logic. The schema will probably change over time, but older clients may still expect the original fields and types.

How are you handling schema versioning in practice? Do you keep separate versions of the prompt and schema, or make new fields optional and maintain one compatible format? I’d be interested in what has worked once an integration is in production.
