I’m setting up lifecycle rules for a Google Cloud Storage bucket to move older objects to a cheaper storage class. Some objects are occasionally read long after upload, though, and I don’t want an aggressive rule to create surprise retrieval costs or remove data that is still needed.
How do you choose a safe age threshold when access patterns are irregular? I’m also wondering whether teams test lifecycle policies on a smaller bucket first or rely on monitoring and gradual rule changes.
