ChatGPT keeps dying in the middle of a long reply. I ask for a 2000 word article, it writes half, then "Something went wrong". Is it my internet or what?

Probably not your internet. I had the same thing last month, and it turned out to be two things at once.
First, open status.openai.com. If there's anything yellow or red there, stop trying; try again in half an hour.
If status is fine, the problem is usually the length of what you're asking for. Long single outputs fail way more than short ones. I stopped asking for full articles in one shot. Now I say, "give me the outline first", then "write section 1", "write section 2", or 3 and so on. Time-consuming process, but it has not failed me once since.
Also try an incognito window. My ad blocker was interfering.
