I have been testing several free streaming apps 
on my Android TV box this year. Most apps still 
use H.264 codec which struggles at 4K resolution 
on average internet connections.

AV1 codec delivers 50 percent better compression 
at the same quality level compared to H.264. This 
makes a huge difference for users with limited 
bandwidth.

Which free streaming apps currently support AV1 
codec on Android TV? Has anyone done a proper 
comparison of streaming quality between AV1 and 
HEVC on mid range Android TV boxes?

Looking for apps that also work globally without 
geo-restrictions since most free apps like Tubi 
and Pluto TV are US only.
